Director AI & Data Science

About the role

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation in Singapore to appoint a Director – AI & Data Science to lead the organisation’s AI and advanced analytics agenda.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for translating emerging AI capabilities, data science, and Generative AI into practical business solutions that enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, risk management, and decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior business and technology leaders to define the AI roadmap, build organisational capabilities, and drive the adoption of AI at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the organisation’s AI and Data Science strategy and roadmap.
• Lead the development and implementation of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and advanced analytics solutions.
• Identify high-value AI opportunities across business and corporate functions.
• Take AI initiatives from proof of concept through to production and enterprise-wide adoption.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning specialists, AI engineers, and analytics professionals.
• Partner with Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and business leadership teams.
• Establish robust AI governance, model risk, data, privacy, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, AI platforms, vendors, and strategic partnerships.
• Present AI strategy, opportunities, investment cases, and outcomes to senior leadership.
• Establish appropriate KPIs to measure the commercial and operational impact of AI initiatives.
• Stay abreast of developments in Generative AI, LLMs, machine learning, and emerging technologies relevant to financial services.

Key Requirements

• Significant leadership experience across AI, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Advanced Analytics.
• Experience leading AI transformation within a large or complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, Machine Learning, NLP, and modern AI architectures.
• Previous experience within financial services, banking, insurance, fintech, asset management, or another regulated environment.
• Proven experience delivering AI solutions from strategy and experimentation through to production.
• Experience building, managing, and developing multidisciplinary AI/data teams.
• Understanding of AI governance, model risk, data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to translate technical capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including experience engaging with C-suite and senior executives.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced qualifications are advantageous.
